The Department of CHMOG has three divisions - namely, Clinical Hematology division, Pediatric Oncology division and Medical Oncology - solid tumor division. Clinical Hematology division focuses on evaluation and treatment of benign hematological disorders in all age groups and malignant hematological disorders in patients aged 15 and above. This division also provides Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for benign and malignant disorders in both adults and in children.
Medical oncology division deals with comprehensive evaluation and medical treatment of various types of solid tumors in adults with chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted agents.
Spectrum of cases seen in Medical Oncology division include Breast cancer, Gastrointestinal cancers, Lung cancer, Head and Neck cancers, Gynaecological cancers, Endocrine cancers, Thoracic cancers, Genitourinary cancers, Brain tumors and cancers of bone and soft tissues. This division is well versed in administration of intraperitoneal and intravesical chemotherapy.
Paediatric oncology division at MCC-PGIOSR caters to management of childhood cancer in children below 15 years of age.The spectrum of childhood cancers that are managed in this division include leukemias - ALL & AML, Lymphomas - Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin lymphomas, Solid tumors - Wilm’s tumor, Neuroblastomas, Hepatobalstomas, Bone tumors (Ewing sarcoma and Osteosarcoma), Brain tumors (Medullobastomas, optic pathway gliomas and other astrocytomas), Retinoblastomas, soft tissues sarcomas (RMS and NRSTS), Germ cell tumors, LCH.
