Every year in India, more than 50,000 children develop cancer. Shockingly, over 70% of them do not survive due to various reasons such as lack of funds, family dislocation, loss of parents' jobs and income, insufficient residential facilities, illiteracy and unawareness of family, and inadequate care and treatment in smaller medical centers.

However, childhood cancers have high chances of being cured if detected early and treated appropriately. Moreover, children who recover from cancer can become productive members of society throughout their life! At MCC, over 80% of the children come from low and low-middle socioeconomic backgrounds, making them in need of significant economic, accommodation, emotional, travel, and nutritional support to undergo expensive and lengthy cancer treatment.

Parent support Group

The Parents Support Group is a platform that provides help and assistance to parents whose children are receiving treatment at MCC.

The group meets at the hospital every third Thursday of the month.

The primary goal of this gathering is to create a safe and supportive space for parents to discuss and clear any doubts they may have about their child's treatment, as well as better understand the instructions given by the doctors.

The meetings also aim to address any issues or concerns that may arise during the treatment period and find appropriate solutions for them.

Birthday Program

"Imagine the joy on a child's face when they receive a birthday celebration in the midst of their routine. That's why every month, as we gather for the Mukulam meeting, we take a moment to celebrate the birthdays of the children. It's a small gesture that has a big impact on the lives of these young ones. Join us in making their day special!"

Recreational activities

At MCC, we make sure to offer a range of recreational facilities for children who are undergoing treatment. We have a mini movie theatre where we showcase a weekly film for families to enjoy together. We also provide Play Station 5 consoles for kids to play interactive games. Our library is curated for families, and we have both indoor and outdoor play areas for children to enjoy.

Clown Therapy

Medical Clowning or Clown therapy bridges the gap between providing care for physical health and mental health in hospital settings.

Children’s day

Every year, we celebrate Children's Day, creating a world of joy and happiness with colourful themes to brighten their world of struggle.

Onapulari

The annual Onam program is celebrated to bring joy to children and families through various competitions, including Onam contests, Onasadhya, Maveli and Pookkalam.

Ray Of Hope

This event is a gathering of cancer survivors and their families, aimed at providing support and hope to those undergoing treatment.

The message is clear: Cancer can be beaten.

The event is also an opportunity to showcase resilience and togetherness as a community. Alongside the main program, there will be various cultural activities and Christmas celebrations to add joy and warmth to the gathering.
