Kannur District Cancer Control Consortium (KCCC)

(An initiative of Malabar Cancer Centre-Post Graduate Institute of Oncology Sciences and Research, Thalassery) KCCC was officially inaugurated on 4th February 2021 by the honourable Chief Minister of Kerala.

Kannur District Cancer Control Consortium (KCCC) is a Charitable Society registered under the Kerala Societies Act, at the instigation of Malabar Cancer Centre-Post Graduate Institute of Oncology Sciences and Research, Thalassery, with the great concept of Participatory Cancer Control. Area of operation of KCCC is Kannur District and the Mahe. KCCC is a consortium of 46 registered organisations working in the fields of Palliative Care, health, social and like minded organisations with more than three years experience in the field of social service and charitable activities. KCCC was launched in April 2019, registered in November 2020 and officially inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala Sri. Pinarayi Vijayan on 4th. February 2021, the World Cancer Day. In the early days of formation itself strong awareness programs against cancer, drug abuses and other social evils were conducted especially among Students, Kudumbasree workers, Asha workers, NCC Cadets, NSS Volunteers, Scouts & Guides, Student Police Cadets, JRC volunteers and other publics, had attracted high range of media and public attention. The patient navigation volunteers' project has become the most prestigious project since it's inception and has already become the most recognised and the best patient friendly project of MCC-PGIOSR. The Help Desk at MCC-PGIOSR continues to provide comfort and help to new patients arriving at the MCC-PGIOSR from the seven northward districts from Trichur. Help desk volunteers, six to seven are on duty from Monday to Saturday, from 6.30 in the morning to 4 in the evening to provide comfort and personal assistance to those who enter the MCC-PGIOSR gate with fear, tension and anxiety.
