In Kerala, it is roughly calculated that around 39000 new cancer patients are detected each year.The incidence of cancer may have an apparent rise due to improving awareness among public, early detection,emergence of many cancer treating facilities in the state. Change in life style is a major contributory factor in the development of this disease.Early detection and properly implemented multidisciplinary approach are key to the success of treatment.Cancer being one of the most curable chronic diseases and cancer conquerors contribute significantly to the family, society and nation, quality of life and approaches to develop less morbid treatment modalities become major thrust areas in cancer research. Quality of care and impetus provided for cure of patient should be a major zone of action for any dedicated tertiary cancer centre.
