Malabar Cancer Centre-Post Graduate Institute of Oncology Sciences and Research (MCC-PGIOSR), Thalassery is an autonomous institution under Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Kerala, established under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The institution is located at Kodiyeri, Thalassery of Kannur District and was established in 2001. The primary objective of MCC-PGIOSR is to provide comprehensive cancer care to the population of Northern Kerala. It also extends its services to the neighboring states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Mahe (which belongs to the Pondicherry Union Territory). MCC-PGIOSR is dedicated to addressing the crucial need for oncology care in the region and ensuring that individuals facing cancer have access to high-quality treatment and support.

Recognized as a research institute by the Kerala University of Health Sciences and Kannur University, MCC-PGIOSR serves as an apex cancer center that places equal emphasis on clinical care, education, and research in oncology. Malabar Cancer Centre - Post Graduate Institute of Oncology Sciences & Research in Thalassery is an esteemed institution that strives to provide comprehensive cancer care to the population of Northern Kerala and beyond. To ensure that cancer treatment is accessible to all, patients are categorized based on their economic status, and various financial assistance schemes of the government, as well as patient support systems provided by MCC-PGIOSR, are utilized. As a result, approximately 90-97% of patients receive treatment either free of cost or at a subsidized rate through these assistance programs. MCC-PGIOSR is committed to ensuring that no patient is denied treatment due to financial constraints.

In addition to medical care, MCC-PGIOSR also provides support to patients and their families. Free food is provided to patients and dormitory facilities are available for those who need to stay within the campus during the course of treatment. The institution's relentless pursuit of excellence in cancer care has positioned it as a leading provider of oncology services in the region.
